Become a host provider for m3 and help support young homeless people

M3 provides supported lodgings accommodation throughout Pennine Lancashire (Rossendale, Burnley, Pendle and Hyndburn) in the homes of Host Providers who offer a room in their homes, along with support for the young people.

Our Hosts are a network of volunteer individuals, couples or families and cover all age groups. Our Hosts encourage young people placed with them to develop day to day independent living skills, leading to greater independence and helping them to take control of their own lives and move-on to their own accommodation.

The project pays Hosts each week whilst they have a young person on placement.

If you wish enquire about being a Host for M3, please contact us here or call the project on 01706 216600.

Frequently asked questions

There are lots of things you will want to consider when becoming a provider for m3. Below are some frequently asked questions to help answer your queries.

We often get asked if this is like ‘fostering’ but it isn’t. It’s about providing a safe place for a young person to call home and helping them with everyday skills. We’ve put together a comprehensive Host Pack which can help you decide.

As a person who may have brought up a family, worked etc., it is likely that you will already have required many of the skills in your daily life, but we will also provide training.

We have dedicated Support Workers who provide regular support for the young person, and work with them to develop their independent living skills to prepare them for when they move into their own home. Your role will be to provide a place of safety and to help the young person with everyday skills such as filling in forms, making appointments and preparing meals.

We provide a comprehensive training package and we have a dedicated Host Support Worker who will help with any queries you have

Yes.  You will receive a weekly amount of £180 from us whilst you have a young person with you and £10 directly from them.

When you tell us that you are interested in becoming a Host, we’ll arrange a convenient time to visit you at home. We do need to see the room the young person will be using, do some routine checks and tell you more about the role. If you are happy to go ahead, we will start the application process. Our Host Pack has all the information you need.

If you decide that you no longer want to provide a placement for a young person, just let us know and we provide an alternative for them as soon as we can.  Our experience shows that this rarely happens as the support we give both to yourself and the young person sorts out most problems as they arise.

Of course!  You can find out more by calling us on 01706 216600 and we will answer any questions you have.  Agreeing to help is a big decision so you need to know what providing supported lodgings will mean for you and your family.
